Gnats Continue Skid Thanks to Volkmann, Vikings
|
The Victoria Vikings defeated the Nichols Gnats, 6-1, in Lyman Bostock League action at The drakkar, with Victoria designated hitter Reggie Volkmann named player of the game. Reliever Bill Kunkel picked up the win. His record improves to 2-2. Luis Pina took the loss. Pete Murphy notched his 30th save in 30 chances.
Volkmann had a big at-bat with a runner on 3rd in the bottom of the first inning, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Vikings went on to win.
"Feels good to get the job done," Volkmann said after the game.
The Vikings have an impressive 55-35 record.
