Panthers Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Lake Monsters
|
The exploits of first baseman Doug Hinton helped the Charleston Panthers defeat the Okanagan Lake Monsters, 3-2. Hinton went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. The winner was Jack Dinner in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Bill Paul took the loss. David Gilmour converted his 4th save in 5 tries.
Had Scott Tuff not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Tuff hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Panthers.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Tuff said after the game.
Charleston is now 39-45. Okanagan is 58-27.
