In a low-scoring tilt between the St. Paul Saints and the Kingwood Knights, Ian Portz was the difference-maker. The St. Paul right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. John Benefield notched his 19th save in 22 chances. The Saints bumped their record to 46-39 with this latest triumph.

St. Paul used the timely hitting of Aaron Basile to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Saints on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Afterward, Saints manager Ismael Rodríguez was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
