Black Squirrels Continue Skid Thanks to O'Leary, Emeralds
|
The Eugene Emeralds defeated the Tree City Black Squirrels, 4-3. Earning player of the game honors was first baseman Travis O'Leary, who was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Tommy Montgomery, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 9-4. Cody Mason got the save, his 8th in 11 chances.
O'Leary had a key at-bat for Eugene early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and gave Eugene an early 3-0 lead.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," O'Leary said.
Tree City's current losing streak has reached 6 games.
