Black Squirrels Lose, 6-5, at Elks Stadium
|
It was a fun time at Elks Stadium, where the Tree City Black Squirrels and Okanagan Lake Monsters tangled.
Despite a fine performance by catcher Ramon Abreu, the Tree City Black Squirrels suffered a 6-5 loss to the Okanagan Lake Monsters. Abreu was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Okanagan starter Neil Coffin was credited with the win after throwing 95 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 7-2. Jeff Kent, credited with the save, is now 10 for 13 in save opportunities.
Early in the game, right fielder Danny Swink had a grand slam home run for Okanagan. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Lake Monsters on top, 6-2.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Okanagan manager Bhim Varuni.
The Lake Monsters have an impressive 55-26 record.
