Knights Turn Back Stroudsburg, 5-4
|
The Kingwood Knights did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Stroudsburg Shade at Tim Raines Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Shinsuke Suzuki, who captured player of the game honors. In 5 innings, Suzuki surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Shiki Murata notched his 3rd save in 4 chances.
Mike Carney chipped in for Kingwood with a solo home run in the top of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Carney told a Kingwood Bulletin reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
With the win over Stroudsburg, the Knights improved to 32-45.
