Warriors Win at Bel Air, 5-2
|
The Winfield Warriors beat the Bel Air Princes, 5-2, at Philip Banks Field. The Warriors got a fine performance from left fielder Adam Champagne, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Brendan Womersley got credit for the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 5 innings. Today's win puts Winfield at 29-45, while Bel Air falls to 27-49.
The Warriors got a big at-bat from first baseman Phil Dick. For the game, Dick went 1 for 4 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 11th double of the season gave Winfield a 2-0 lead.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Bel Air manager Leland Austin. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
