Vikings Prevail, 6-4, Over Charleston
|
Fans who gathered at Franklin Mountains Field saw a good contest between the Victoria Vikings and Charleston Panthers.
The Victoria Vikings topped the Charleston Panthers by the score of 6-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to third baseman Will Otis. Otis went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Vikings on the day. Eric Stark, credited with the win, is now 6-4. He allowed 3 runs on 9 hits in 5 innings. Pete Murphy notched his 25th save in 25 chances.
Otis had a key at-bat for Victoria early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and gave Victoria an early 3-0 lead.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Otis, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The Vikings bumped their record to 46-29 with this latest triumph.
