The Winfield Warriors topped the Chippewa River Chiefs, 4-2, in Lyman Bostock League action at The Barn. The player of the game was Winfield pitcher and Jatibonico, Cuba native Jose Montalvo. Danny Reliford notched his 6th save in 11 chances. With the win over Chippewa, the Warriors improved to 56-74.
Phil Dick had a clutch at-bat with one out in the top of the eighth for the Warriors. Coming up with a runner on 2nd and Winfield trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run home run.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Winfield skipper Eric Stone.
