Hornets Topple Black Squirrels with Late Rally
|
The Bethesda Hornets grabbed a 5-2 win over the Tree City Black Squirrels at Hornets Field. Bethesda right fielder Tetsui Ohayashi was 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times to earn player of the game honors. The winner was Bethesda reliever Jung-hoon Pak, now 3-0. The loser was Mike Mager. Jamie Morgan, credited with the save, is now 22 for 23 in save opportunities.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Merlin Amore came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Tree City pitcher Mike Mager, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Bethesda on top, 4-2.
"We'll try to build on that win," Amore told the Bethesda Daily News.
The first-place Hornets now have a 4-game winning streak.
