Gnats Come Back Late to Top Jedi Knights
|
Nichols Gnats starter Chris Lembke pitched a strong game against the New Orleans Jedi Knights at The Republic, leading the Gnats to a 5-4 win. Nichols reliever Emilio Aguinaga was the winner. His record is now 1-2. Rich Owen took the loss. Vince Johnson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 13 of 14 save opportunities.
The Gnats got a big at-bat from right fielder Erik Butler. For the game, Butler was 1-5. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 57th hit of the season gave Nichols a 5-4 lead.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said New Orleans manager Mason Eilers.
Nichols is now 26-36.
