Emeralds Get Road Win, 11-3
|
The Eugene Emeralds topped the Houston Sting, 11-3, with first baseman Travis O'Leary playing a big role. O'Leary went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 3 times for the Emeralds in the win. Eugene starter Cristo Cruz was credited with the win after throwing 92 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. Roberto Delaluz was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.
Jose Ortiz aided the Eugene cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth. For the game, the shortstop was 1-3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," O'Leary said.
The Emeralds bumped their record to 34-27 with this latest triumph.
