Bush Wackers Win at St. Petersburg, 5-2
|
The rain came, as predicted, but the Brisbane Bush Wackers and St. Petersburg Pelicans were able to complete their ballgame.
Brisbane Bush Wackers starter Grant Huffman pitched a strong game against the St. Petersburg Pelicans at Billy Mathews Field, leading the Bush Wackers to a 5-2 win. Huffman, now 6-2, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 2 earned runs. Aaron Lyons converted his 8th save in 14 tries.
The Bush Wackers got a big at-bat from third baseman Angel Apodaca. For the game, Apodaca was 1 for 3 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 2nd triple of the season gave Brisbane a 4-2 lead.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Huffman.
The Bush Wackers own a robust 44-19 mark.
