Eugene Emeralds starter Tommy Montgomery turned in an exceptional performance against the Houston Sting at Woodland Park, resulting in a Eugene win, 6-2. Ángel Velázquez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 10 save opportunities. The Emeralds bumped their record to 33-27 with this latest triumph.

The Emeralds got a big at-bat from center fielder Marcos Moreno. For the game, Moreno went 2 for 4 with a triple and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. In the top of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 11th double of the season gave Eugene a 2-0 lead.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Moreno, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
