Hornets Win at Eugene, 4-2
|
The Bethesda Hornets picked up a win at Prefontaine Park, knocking off the Eugene Emeralds, 4-2. Starting pitcher Ed Benner played a key role in the triumph. Benner picked up the win for Bethesda, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Jamie Morgan, credited with the save, is now 21 for 22 in save opportunities.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out in the top of the seventh inning. That's when third baseman Jamie DeWoody, who is tied for 2nd in the AHL in triples with 5, drew a walk. The Hornets went on to win.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Benner told the Bethesda Daily News.
Bethesda improves to 41-20 with the win. They lead their division by 5˝ games.
