Victory Pushes Vikings Record to 39-22
|
Despite a great performance by New Orleans first baseman Bryan Kirby, the Victoria Vikings defeated the Jedi Knights by the score of 6-3 at The drakkar. Kirby slugged 2 home runs. Kevin Murphy earned the win for Victoria. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 7-2. Pete Murphy notched his 21st save in 21 chances.
The Vikings got a big at-bat from catcher Morgan Kowalkowski. For the game, Kowalkowski was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Victoria a 3-1 lead.
"It feels good to get this one," Kowalkowski told the Victoria Today.
The Vikings own a robust 39-22 mark.
