Late Rally by Cyclones Secures Win
|
It was a fun time at Coney Island Coliseum, where the Chippewa River Chiefs and Coney Island Cyclones tangled.
Coney Island first baseman Brenden Cheatham was instrumental in his team's 5-3 win over the Chippewa River Chiefs. Cheatham went 4-4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Cyclones. Coney Island reliever Francisco Perez was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Pat Beckett.
The Cyclones got a big at-bat from third baseman Luis León. For the game, León went 1-4. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 44th hit of the season gave Coney Island a 4-3 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Cheatham.
After today's action, Coney Island sits at 28-31, while Chippewa falls to 32-28.
