Late Rally by Lake Monsters Secures Win
|
Despite a great performance by Charleston third baseman Mike Burge, the Okanagan Lake Monsters defeated the Panthers by the score of 6-5 at Franklin Mountains Field. Burge went 1 for 1 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 3 times. Okanagan reliever Jeff Kent picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Ronnie Kimble took the loss. Ramón Martínez converted his 11th save in 11 tries.
Dave Calderon hit a 2-run double off Ronnie Kimble in the top of the ninth, which put the Lake Monsters in front, 6-5. In addition to the double, Calderon had 2 singles, while going 3 for 5.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Okanagan manager Bhim Varuni.
Okanagan goes to 39-20. The win puts them 7˝ games up in their division.
