Mustangs Win at New Orleans, 6-3
|
San Angelo and New Orleans duked it out at The Republic and the Mustangs came out victorious.
The San Angelo Mustangs picked up a win at The Republic, knocking off the New Orleans Jedi Knights, 6-3. On the mound for San Angelo was right-hander Kunio Otsuka, who played a pivotal role in the win. Otsuka, now 8-3, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 3 earned runs.
The Mustangs got a big at-bat from designated hitter Kazuaki Kishi. For the game, Kishi went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave San Angelo a 3-0 lead.
Kishi told a San Angelo Daily News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
The Mustangs bumped their record to 35-23 with this latest triumph.
