The Tree City Black Squirrels beat the Houston Sting, 6-0, at Woodland Park. The Black Squirrels got a fine performance from right fielder Cole Capone, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Doug Fox picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. José López was tagged with the loss. The Black Squirrels now own a record of 32-21.

Jorge Juarez went 1-4 for Tree City. The 20-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off José López. It was his 9th RBI of the season.

In postgame comments to the Tree City Gazette, Capone said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
