Fernandez goes 4-for-5 as Road Warriors Squeeze Past Kingwood
|
The Westside Road Warriors topped the Kingwood Knights, 7-6, with youngster Omar Fernandez playing a key role. Fernandez went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Road Warriors in the win. Westside reliever Vic Evans picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Josh Crowe was saddled with the loss. The 5th-place Road Warriors lifted their record to 22-25.
Fernandez had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 0-1 slider from Josh Crowe, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Road Warriors a 7-6 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Fernandez.
"I think we all put in a good day's work," said Fernandez.
