Eugene right fielder António Román had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Román went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2, even as Houston beat the Emeralds, 4-3. Román was named the player of the game despite the loss. The winner was Houston reliever José Toro, now 6-1. The loser was Tommy Montgomery. Aaron Carter was called on to finish, recording his 5th save.
Ray Roberts swatted a solo home run for Houston in the top of the sixth. The designated hitter went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and batted in 1.
"We found a way to get it done," Roberts said.
Houston, at 23-20, sits in third place in the Donnie Moore League Tommy Lasorda Division.
