The Vancouver Pioneers picked up a win at "The Fort" at B.C. Place, knocking off the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 5-1. Starting pitcher Kenko Samurakami, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Todd Couch earned his 4th save in 5 tries. Vancouver is in 4th place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division with a record of 24-28.

The biggest at-bat came in the top of the eighth. The score was 2-1, Pioneers. With a runner on 2nd and two down, Todd Couch retired Ramón Márquez with a 2-1 circle change. Márquez, who is rated as the 57th best prospect by BNN, grounded out.
