Panthers Lose, 5-4, at The Reservation
|
The Chippewa River Chiefs beat the Charleston Panthers, 5-4, at The Reservation. The River Chiefs got a fine performance from catcher Tommy Williams, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-3 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Eddie Zuniga was credited with the save for Chippewa, his 2nd of the season. The River Chiefs bumped their record to 23-15 with this latest triumph.
Ben Eisner went 1-3 for Chippewa. The 21-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jack Dinner. It was his 19th RBI of the season.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Charleston manager Román Cruz.
