Bloodhounds Turn Back Nichols, 4-2
|
The Boise Bloodhounds topped the Nichols Gnats, 4-2, in Lyman Bostock League action at Grand Canyon Valley Park. The player of the game was Boise pitcher Francisco Martínez. Martínez, now 1-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 8, walking 5, and allowing 2 earned runs. Picking up the save was Jason Loer, his 6th.
The Bloodhounds got a big at-bat from shortstop Jeffrey Lyons. For the game, Lyons went 2-4 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 15th hit of the season gave Boise a 3-2 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Lyons told the Boise Herald. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
