Cannavaro Hits 2 home runs in Grays Win
|
The Georgia Grays grabbed a 7-3 win over the Eureka Hornets at The Nest. Georgia right fielder Danilo Cannavaro hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice to earn player of the game honors. Bill Piner picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 3 in 6 innings. Today's win puts Georgia at 19-35, while Eureka falls to 30-23.
Rick Giammarino aided the Georgia cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh. For the game, the designated hitter went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs.
"I know we have our doubters," said Eureka manager Stephen Jackson. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
