Black Squirrels Win at Bel Air, 5-4
|
Fans who gathered at Philip Banks Field saw a good contest between the Tree City Black Squirrels and Bel Air Princes.
Tree City beat Bel Air at Philip Banks Field, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Bruce Cunningham, who earned player of the game honors. Cory Kieck nailed down his 12th save.
The Black Squirrels got a big at-bat from designated hitter Dane Ridge. For the game, Ridge was 1-5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Tree City a 5-4 lead.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Tree City manager Ramón Guerrero.
The Black Squirrels bumped their record to 18-16 with this latest triumph.
