Victory Pushes Knights Record to 16-14
|
Kingwood and Bel Air duked it out at Stable Park and the Knights came out victorious.
The Kingwood Knights defeated the Bel Air Princes, 6-4, at Stable Park. Kingwood right fielder Hirofumi Ishibashi was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Yoshizo Kanemura got the win, improving to 3-2. He worked 6 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Tony Mejía earned save number 1.
Steve Pyles had a big run-scoring single for the Knights in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Kingwood trailing 4-2 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Osamu Murakami and stroked the single to center. It was his 30th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Knights ahead, 4-3.
"We take it day by day here," said Ishibashi, "and today was a good one for us."
Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Knights hope to make a postseason run.
