Victory Pushes Emeralds Record to 16-15
|
The Eugene Emeralds topped the Victoria Vikings, 6-2, in Donnie Moore League action at The drakkar. The player of the game was Eugene pitcher Franklin Cadonau. In 7 innings, Cadonau surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Losses have been few and far between for the Vikings, who are now 22-9.
The Emeralds beat the Vikings in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Júlio Alou produced in the top of the sixth. Batting against Victoria pitcher Kevin Murphy, Alou gave his team a 4-2 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Cadonau told the Eugene Gazette.
