Bush Wackers Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
Charleston got a terrific game from first baseman Ryosaku Nishimura. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Brisbane, 7-5. Nishimura was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Brisbane reliever Jorge Rivera picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Ronnie Kimble absorbed the loss. The save was Jose Artola's, his 1st.

Brisbane needed the clutch hitting of Hiroshi Kono to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Bush Wackers on top, 7-5. For the game, Kono had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.

"Big win," said Kono.

It was the 19th win in 28 games this year for the defending champion Bush Wackers, who are picking up where they left off.
