Prowlers Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Beavers
|
Oklahoma City starter Ryan Goldberg pitched effectively against the Portland Beavers at Waterfront Park. The right-hander led his team to a 5-3 win. In 8 innings, Goldberg surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 11 and walking 4. He allowed 3 runs. Soleh Purbacaraka earned the save for Oklahoma City, his 13th.
The Prowlers got a big at-bat from second baseman Xiao-wei Wang. For the game, Wang was 2 for 5 with 2 singles. In the top of the eighth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 34th hit of the season gave Oklahoma City a 4-3 lead.
"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Wang told the Oklahoma City Daily News.
The 4th-place Beavers have lost 5 straight games.
