Sting Jolt Shade with Late Rally
|
The Stroudsburg Shade got a sterling performance from pitcher Jim Fisher, but the Sting still prevailed, 5-3. Fisher was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Marco Cruz earned the save for Houston, his 5th. The Shade, at 6-18, have stumbled out of the gate.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out in the top of the eighth inning. That's when right fielder Joe Sheridan, who is tied for 4th in the AHL in doubles with 6, drew a walk. The Sting went on to win.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Sheridan.
