Warriors Rally For Late Win Over Cyclones
|
Winfield designated hitter Yashpal Rob was a significant contributor in his team's 5-3 triumph over the Coney Island Cyclones. He went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times for Winfield. The save went to Cisco Núñez, his 3rd this season. The Warriors, with just their 5th win in 20 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Félix Hernández came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Coney Island pitcher Joe Schrock, he hit a 1-2 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Winfield on top, 4-3.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Hernández. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
