Hornets Stumble, Lose to Jacks
|
The Jacksonville Jacks bested the Eureka Hornets by a score of 8-3, with left fielder Gart Rook getting the main credit. On the day, Rook went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Jacks. Juan Martínez picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 1-1. Jacksonville, now 22-29, holds 5th place in the Roberto Clemente League William Atteberry Division.
Stanley Comiskey, who is a three-time All-Star, aided the Jacksonville cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the first. For the game, the catcher went 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
