Sting Turn Back Barrow, 2-1
|
The Barrow Frosties got a sterling performance from pitcher Ryuya Kondo, but the Sting still prevailed, 2-1. Kondo was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings allowing 1 run. Houston reliever Ed Gratton picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Dale Sanson absorbed the loss. Losses have been few and far between for the Frosties, who are now 15-6.
Houston took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With no one out, first baseman Josh Wheeler hit a solo home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Sting manager Héctor Flores, "I like our chances."
