River Chiefs Turn Back San Angelo, 5-3

The Chippewa River Chiefs picked up a win at The Reservation, knocking off the San Angelo Mustangs, 5-3. On the mound for Chippewa was right-hander Jeff Stephens, who played a pivotal role in the win. Stephens went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-0. The River Chiefs, now 12-6, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Bob Nisbet aided the Chippewa cause with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the right fielder was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
