Sting Need Extras to Top Hornets
|
Bethesda got a terrific performance from pitcher Tim Gary, but it wasn't enough to beat the Houston Sting. Houston won the Hornets Field contest, 3-1. Gary was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Sting a record of 7-8.
The Sting got a big at-bat from designated hitter Matt Pepple. For the game, Pepple was 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the 12th, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Houston a 3-1 lead.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Pepple told the Houston Bulletin.
