Victory Over Mustangs Takes Victoria to 13-2
|
Victoria withstood an impressive performance by San Angelo left fielder Jorge Maya to defeat the Mustangs, 6-3, at The drakkar. Maya was 4-5 with 4 singles. Pete Murphy earned save number 7. The Vikings raised their record to 13-2.
The Vikings got a big at-bat from center fielder Fernando Vera. For the game, Vera was 1 for 4 with a walk. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 12th hit of the season gave Victoria a 4-3 lead.
"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Vera told the Victoria Today.
