Hornets Lose, 7-3, at The Nut House
|
The Tree City Black Squirrels topped the Bethesda Hornets, 7-3, with youngster Pete Leggett playing a key role. Leggett was 2 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Black Squirrels in the win. Tree City reliever Sixto Árias was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Gabe Loza. Losses have been few and far between for the Hornets so far this season. Their record drops to 8-4.
The tide might have turned with one out in the top of the fifth, had not Sixto Árias made a big pitch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and the Hornets trailing 3-0, he retired Antonio Aguilar, who struck out.
