The Chippewa River Chiefs picked up a win at Stable Park, knocking off the Kingwood Knights, 6-1. Starting pitcher José López played a key role in the triumph. Chippewa, now 7-4, has played well in the early going.
Tatsuhito Suzuki, who is tied for 3rd in the BOL in RBI with 12, chipped in for Chippewa with a 2-run home run in the top of the first. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Chippewa manager Eric Rice.
