Princes Win at Houston, 3-1
|
The Bel Air Princes got a magnificent effort from pitcher Steve Rosenberger, who kept Houston hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Princes win at Woodland Park. Rosenberger went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-0. Earning his 1st save of the year was Shayne Cluff.
Bel Air relied on the bat of Dave Newcombe to get the win. The left fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Princes ahead, 2-0. For the game, Newcombe had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
In postgame comments to the Bel Air Herald, Newcombe said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The win gives Bel Air a record of 4-3.
