The 2033 season did not get off to quite the start the Boise Bloodhounds had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Nichols Gnats at Grand Canyon Valley Park. The final score was 4-2. Third Baseman Tsuneto Ezaki was named player of the game for Nichols. Nick Copeland picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 5 in 6 innings.
Ezaki had a key at-bat for Nichols early in the game. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and gave Nichols an early 3-0 lead.
Ezaki called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
