Streaking Hackers Win Another One
|
The Silicon Valley Hackers topped the Boise Hawks, 5-4, in Cory Lidle League action at San Jose Municipal Stadium. The player of the game was Silicon Valley pitcher and Ogden, Utah native Ken Stein. Stein got the win, improving to 8-8. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. Stein allowed 2 earned runs. Quiang Tu, credited with the save, is now 18 for 22 in save opportunities.
Sergio Pérez had a big run-scoring single for the Hackers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Silicon Valley leading 4-3 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from Tokuma Taihei and stroked the single to right. It was his 33rd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hackers ahead, 5-3.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Stein.
The wins continue to add up for Silicon Valley, with the latest making it 7 in a row.
