Tune-Ups Fall Short, 4-3, at Boise
|
The Boise Hawks picked up a win at Basque Block Field, knocking off the Youngstown Tune-Ups, 4-3. Starting pitcher Sean Nichols, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The Hawks bumped their record to 80-76 with this latest triumph.
Thom Arnold drove in one run for Boise. The 24-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bruce Easton. It was his 11th RBI of the season.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Youngstown skipper Robby Tate, "and it cost us."
