Ducks Lose, 8-4, at The Stetson Bowl
|
The Fraser Valley Black Bears knocked off the Long Island Ducks, 8-4, at The Stetson Bowl. Jeff Lowery, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Fraser Valley won. The designated hitter went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Neil Coffin, the winner, improved to 6-3. He held the Ducks to 3 earned runs on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 2. The Black Bears are now 85-71, while the Ducks fall to 66-89.
Randy Griffin aided the Fraser Valley cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the center fielder was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 4 runs.
"We'll savor this win," Griffin told the Fraser Valley Daily News, "then get ready for the next game."
