The Madison Beehive got a rain-soaked win over the Wichita Wolverines at The Hive.
Wichita got a terrific performance from pitcher Charlie Haydon, but it wasn't enough to beat the Madison Beehive. Madison won the The Hive contest, 4-3. Haydon was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Duane Fraser, credited with the save, is now 25 for 33 in save opportunities.
Had Gene Rush not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Rush hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Beehive.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Wichita skipper Dave Moran.
The Beehive go to 54-99, putting them last in the Bob Moose League Jim Leyland Division.
