Rats Prevail, 7-5, Over Fraser Valley
|
The Rock River Rats knocked off the Fraser Valley Black Bears, 7-5, at The Rat Hole. Tucker Slade, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Rock River won. The right fielder was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Jeff Stephens, the winner, improved to 12-3. He held the Black Bears to 4 earned runs on 6 hits over 7.2 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 1. Rock River has now won 3 in a row.
Luis Alvarez, who is tied for 9th in the FFL with a .401 on-base percentage, aided the Rock River cause with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the pinch hitter was 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
