Despite a fine performance by second baseman Jeffrey O'Connor, the Newark Jail Birds suffered a 8-6 loss to the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats. O'Connor went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Newark is in the throes of a 9-game skid.

The Beetlecats got a big at-bat from right fielder Jason Craig. For the game, Craig was 1-1, while scoring 2 runs. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 5th hit of the season gave Buzzard's Bay a 6-5 lead.
