The Rock River Rats put together a convincing win at The Rat Hole, defeating the Fraser Valley Black Bears, 11-3. John Johnson was one of the hitting stars. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for Rock River. Pat Beckett, the winner, improved to 6-6. He held the Black Bears to 1 earned run on 4 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 6. Rock River goes to 85-63. The win puts them 3½ games up in their division.

Johnson contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Rock River in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 1-0, Johnson took a forkball from Jesús Rivera and stroked the home run to right. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Rats to leap in front, 3-1.
