Beehive Edge Past Hellcats, 4-3
|
The Jacksonville Hellcats got a superb performance from pitcher Jon Givens. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Madison. The Beehive won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Givens was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. The winner was Seung-min Ohng in relief. His record improves to 7-6. Tadakatsu Murayama took the loss. Duane Fraser was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 24 of 32 save opportunities.
The Beehive got a big at-bat from second baseman Max Lockwood. For the game, Lockwood was 1 for 1 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the tenth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 32nd hit of the season gave Madison a 4-2 lead.
"It feels good to get this one," Lockwood told the Madison Gazette.
Jacksonville is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
